The cables consist of either:
2 RCA Plugs to 2 RCA Plugs
3 RCA Plugs to 3 RCA Plugs

RCA cables have been the standard AV connection for decades

The RCA cable connector is named for the Radio Corporation of America; these are cables with three color-coded plugs, which connect to three correspondingly colored jacks. Composite video is analog, and carries all the video data in one signal. Analog video is made up of three separate signals then it compresses to one signal and reduces the quality.

The RCA video cables and RCA audio cables can be used to connect a variety of audio and video devices. Higher-end devices will have all three RCA cable jacks leaving the device resulting in a higher-quality transfer. Lower-end devices, however, usually only have one jack, called a stereo jack, which combines all three channels. This results in lower-quality transfers because the signal is compressed into one channel. In either case, RCA cables transmit analog.

One way of maintaining signal clarity is by separating the component, RCA cables of a video signal so that they do not interfere with each other. When a signal is separated with these RCA cables it is called 'component video'.signals comprise two or more separate signals: therefore, all are 'component video' signals. For most consumer-level applications, analog component video is used. Digital component video is slowly becoming popular in home-theatre applications. RCA video cable is capable of carrying signals such as 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p, and new high definition TVs support the use of component, RCA video cable up to their native resolution.
